• WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

The Sydney Seafarers’ Centre opened its new building at Port Botany in 2004.

The centre (formerly known as Boomerang) originated in 1986 when the ITF and the shipping industry recognised the merits of a place to welcome visiting seafarers and provide them with facilities and a social venue to meet their needs.

It is controlled by a representative board of directors.

This Centre is unique in that three pastoral/welfare agencies work together. These agencies are ITF (International Transport Federation),
MTS (Mission To Seafarers), AOS (Apostleship of the Sea).

The Sydney Port Welfare Committee also uses this Centre as its base.

The focus of the Sydney Seafarers Centre is the welfare of seafarers.

We aim to provide an integrated pastoral/welfare service to seafarers.

Mark Armstrong (Manager).
